Who do you evaluate?
I work with complex learners of all ages - K-12 students, post-secondary students, and adults - including students in social-emotional programs, county schools, non-public schools, and residential treatment centers.
I also support adults in college who may benefit from accommodations in their courses or on exams, as well as students with more extensive support needs who may require more tailored school programming to fit their unique learning profile.
What is an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)?
An independent educational evaluation (IEE) is an evaluation conducted by a qualified examiner who is not employed by the school district that serves your student.
As part of the rights included in your procedural safeguards, a parent, guardian, or educational rights holder who disagrees with the district's evaluation can request an IEE at public expense. You have two years from the date of the district's evaluation to make this request. Once the district receives it, it has only two options: pay for the IEE, or file for due process to prove that its own assessment was appropriate. Most districts opt to pay for the IEE, and they are obligated to respond to your request "without unnecessary delay."

How long does the evaluation process take?
Depending on which assessments you are interested in and the needs of you or your child, the process can take up to 45 days.
Most of that time is spent gathering necessary background information, signing releases, speaking with service providers, conducting interviews, testing, writing the report, meeting with you to review the results, and attending the IEP meeting when applicable.
Do you work directly with school districts?
Yes - I work directly with school districts when families request an IEE from CLUE Educational Evaluations. Once your district approves the IEE, you will send the district a letter naming CLUE Educational Evaluations as your IEE provider.

What are your fees, and do you accept insurance?
Fees vary depending on the assessment services provided, and I am happy to discuss pricing for your situation during a free consultation.
I do not accept insurance at this time. Most insurance companies do not cover educational testing unless it is tied to a medically necessary condition, but you are always welcome to check with your insurance provider about possible coverage or whether they accept a superbill.
Where are you located, and do you offer virtual or remote services?
I am located in Ventura County, California. At this time, I serve most of California to include neighboring districts and communities of Ventura as well as various regions of the state outside the Ventura County SELPA.
Consultations, interviews, and results meetings can often be handled by phone, video, or virtually, while testing is typically conducted in person. Virtual options are also available. Reach out and we can discuss the arrangement that fits your situation.
